SeaDek is joining the Sebastian Inlet Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation to help save the Indian River Lagoon by planting native plants at the shoreline of Ryckman Park in Melbourne Beach, and volunteers are needed.
The goal of the project is to establish a fertilizer-free buffer, filter runoff, and restore habitat by installing beds of Florida-native plants, as living shorelines are one of the biggest contributing factors to the health of the Lagoon.
The Surfrider Foundation will be supported by SeaDek, The Melbourne Beach Garden Club, Maple Street Natives, the Florida Native Plant Society, the Brevard Environmentally Endangered Lands Program, the Brevard Lagoon Coalition, and the Town of Melbourne Beach.
The planting will take place on Saturday, July 16, from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM at Ryckman Park in Melbourne Beach.
This is a great opportunity to do our part and show how much we care about the Lagoon by getting our hands dirty and uniting with other community members to help save this amazing natural resource in peril. Lets show how much we care and get out there!
