“The 3rd and final leg of the Power-Pole Florida Pro Redfish Series is in the books.
Pre-fishing presented us with some tough conditions but we did pretty well under the circumstances. Looming storms with high winds and rain greeted us on Friday morning but we managed to boat some decent redfish.
Tourney morning on Saturday we started at another location working up to where we found fish on Friday. The plan paid off as the fish were still there….and hungry. Our first fish to the boat was only around 19″ but it was a start. Shortly after we sight-fished a 26 1/2 incher 10′ from the boat. Now we had our 2 slot fish(18″-27″) for weigh-in with the hopes of upgrading the smaller of the 2. We proceeded to catch some smaller reds and a few trout but needed that upper slot redfish to really position us better in the standings. We had our chance with a nice redfish we watched inhale the lure but missed it on the hook set. Finally, later in the afternoon we were able to upgrade the 19″ with a 21″.
Time was up and so we headed to weigh-in. Although we weren’t able to get 2 solid upper slot redfish, the 2 we had were good enough to gain us 5th place of the 30+ teams fishing.
We’re still waiting for the official overall season standings but should be in the top 10 of the 40+ teams fishing the series. Panama City, Fl Championships in October…..here we come !!” – Alan
The Panama City Showdown Championship will be held on October 2nd and 3rd.
